چکیده

Temperature–Emissivity Separation (TES) in the Thermal InfraRed (TIR) domain is an illposed problem, in which the number of measurements (the measured spectral radiances) is less than the number of the parameters to be determined (the values of emissivity in each channel plus the temperature). In this paper we present a new method for deriving these parameters from TIR radiance spectra. The presented procedure determines both the spectral emissivity and the temperature by looking for their maximum entropy probability density function, and computes the target temperature and emissivity as the related expectations. 2012 Elsevier B.V. Spectral mixture analysis of simulated thermal infrared spectrometry data: An initial temperature estimate bounded TESSMA search approach

At-sensor thermal infrared (TIR) radiation varies depending on the temperature and emissivity of surface materials and the modifying impact of atmospheric absorption and emission. TIR imaging spectrometry often involves extracting temperature, emissivity, and/or surface composition, which are useful in diverse studies ranging from climatology to land use analyses. A two-stage application of tem...

Temperature / Emissivity Separation Algorithm Theoretical Basis Document

The ASTER scanner on NASA's Terra (EOS-AM1) satellite will collect five channels of TIR data with an NE∆T of ≤0.3K to estimate surface kinetic temperatures and emissivity spectra, especially over land, where emissivities are not known in advance. Temperature/emissivity separation (TES) is difficult because there are five measurements but six unknowns. Various approaches have been used to constr...

Temperature Estimation and Compositional Mapping Using Spectral Mixture Analysis of Thermal Imaging Spectrometry Data

In the thermal infrared (TIR), a surface emits radiation based on its temperature and emissivity. TIR imaging spectrometry involves extracting temperature, emissivity, and/or surface composition information, which are useful in a wide variety of studies ranging from climatology to land use analyses. A simple technique of temperature emissivity separation (TES) has been developed to separate the...

BRDF models to predict spectral reflectance and emissivity in the thermal infrared

This paper presents modifications to the linear kernel bidirectional reflectance distribution function (BRDF) models from Roujean et al. and from Wanner et al. that extend the spectral range into the thermal infrared (TIR). Our application is to synthesize the TIR optical properties of a scene pixel from laboratory component measurements. The angular reflectance and emissivity are needed to con...

An Improvement on Land Surface Temperature Determination by Producing Surface Emissivity Maps

Emissivity mapping of the Earth’s surface is the prerequisite to thermal remote sensing. A precise determinationof a surface's temperature is dependent upon the availability of precise emissivity data for that surface. The presentstudy area is a part of sugarcane plantation fields in the west part of Khuzestan province. In this work, TemperatureEmissivity Separation algorithm (TES) was applied ...
